Blogging in more classes?

I think that blogging is a great way for students to speak their mind and also discuss their experiences about writing within the class. For the k-12 classroom, I don’t think that blogging will be as effective because I do not think that the students will take the time to write on their blogs outside of class. It would be a good idea to start having high school students to start creating blogs in a English/language arts class. In a community college/university setting I think that it is a great idea for English classes to have their students create blogs and write in them reflecting on things they have done in the class. I had a great time making my very first blog this semester in class. If it wasn’t for this class then I would never have created a blog. This was a fun way to write about my personal experiences with this class and to think about how I would use certain things within my class that I will soon be teaching.

In my classroom, I would have the students reflect on their writing experiences in my class. Blogging is a great way for them to say whatever they want to say because this is their own personal blog website. If they did not like a certain writing experience in my class then they can write and reflect on why they had a tough time in that certain section of class. Students will use the blog to think about things that they have liked and learned in the class. They may also use it to write about certain books they like to read and movies they love to watch. The blog is a place for students to write whatever comes to their mind. I think that it is a great idea to have students make blogs in a community college or university English or language arts class. I had a great time this semester writing in my blog and putting up pictures, music, and youtube videos in it. I think many students would like doing this for other classes.
