Fiction Writing

There are many similarities and differences between writing fiction and writing about fiction. When you write about fiction, you are commenting on someone else’s story that has already been written. When you write fiction, you create your own world and are creative writing your own story. You can be really creative writing your own fiction. When I was writing about the story “Nomad and Viper” it had influenced a lot of my own personal writing. Thinking about plot, characters and point of view really helped me create my own story. I have always loved writing stories when I was a little kid. I was always very creative with every story I would write down on paper or told to a group of friends. I think that teaching fiction in the classroom is a great way for the students to be creative and have fun writing their own stories. The best way to do a unit on fiction is to go over the elements of fiction, introduce them to a few stories and then have them create their own stories. I had a great time creating my own story it has been a very long tie since I have sat down and created my own story. As a kid, I used to write new stories all the time. When creating your own stories, you can create any type of character and put them in any situation anywhere in the world. When I get to have my own classroom with students, I will have them write their own stories to see what they can create and how creative they can be when they write their own stories.

Creating Myth

I think that mythology is a great way to get students interested in a whole new different type of literature. After studying world mythology in this class, I think that this section was a great way to learn different types of mythology. My group did the male divine and I had learned a lot about the male gods and how they are seen in different cultures. I had learned a lot about creation, female, and also trickster myths. This section made me more interested in mythology and I was excited to start thinking about what I wanted in the myth that I was creating. There are so many different types of myths to choose from when creating your own. I think that making up our own myth was a creative way to see what we have learned from our own section or from other myth groups that have presented their types of mythology. I started getting creative with my own myth but found it a little bit difficult to start working on my own. I started to think back on what I had learned from the male myths and finally started to create my own. I think that studying different types of myths in the classroom is a great way for students to learn about different cultures through mythology. I think that i will do something similar when i start teaching in a classroom. I also think that having the students create their own myth is a way to see how creative they can be and also to see how much they have learned about mythology. I think that studying myth is a great way to study different cultures in literature by looking at their mythology.

Poetry

There are many similarities and differences on writing poetry and writing about poetry. I have to say that I had a better time writing poetry than writing about poetry. Writing about poetry was a little bit difficult to me because it has hard to interpret someone else’s poem. I explicated Robert Frost’s poem “The Road Not Taken” even though it was an easy poem to interpret, the explication process of the poem was very difficult. I am not a huge fan of reading poetry or writing about poetry but I did have a great time writing the wrecking the first person poem and the found poem. Writing about poetry did help me write my own poetry a little bit. I am still getting used to the poetic forms and all of the terms. But I do not think that writing about poetry help me write my own poems. In future reference to teaching, I think that it is great to teach students a little bit about poetry and to do the same exercises that we have done in this class. I had a great time writing and presenting my poetry. I have written a couple more over spring break and I think that I really enjoy writing poetry more than writing about poetry. I think that teaching poetry is very important because most people do not enjoy reading poetry but I think that the students can get really creative writing their own poetry like Haiku’s, first person poem and also the found poem. I thought that the found poem was the easiest and also my most creative poem that I have written so far. This section on poetry has changed my perspective on the genre all together.

all about the one and only Matt Page

Hello everyone, my name is Matt Page and I am going to tell you a little bit about myself. I am a graduating senior at this wonderful university in Northridge. I am very excited to finally be done with school (I was only here for 5 years). I have been studying in the English department and I hope to teach high school English and also teach film. I love to read books, all types of books that are reccommended to me by anyone who also enjoys reading. I also love watching movies, ask me about any movie and I can talk for hours

I would like to teach right after college but the credential exams are really hard to pass right away. I really do hope that teaching does work out for me. I have wanted to become a teacher since High School, I was influenced by many great teachers that I decided to be just like them influencing future students. I sometimes fear that I will not be a good teacher like mine from High School but I know i'll be fine as a teacher. I am really looking forward to seeing what will happen after college and hopefully i'll begin teaching soon after I graduate. I'm not really sure what role technology will play in my teaching. I dont really know a lot of English teachers that uses technology in their classes so i'm not sure if i'll use it in my classroom.
